RED-INK - Rethinking Education in the Knowledge Society is now starting the activities of the doctoral school.

It is funded by the FNS within the pro*doc program and involves USI, EPFL and UNISG. The topic is elearning and educational technologies in the knowledge society. We are now opening a call for 5 PhD. positions here in Lugano, 3 in S. Gallen and 1 in Lausanne.

e-Learning Day at the University of Geneva, Thursday, November 22, 2007

Researchers, practitioners and collaborators in e-learning from diverse European countries will meet at the University of Geneva’s 1st e-Learning Day. The conference and its workshops will focus on strategic issues as well as pedagogical and organisational aspects of e-learning. The event will also be an occasion to present the University of Geneva’s new e-learning policy. This policy is part of the program promoting the use of technology in teaching and learning within the University of Geneva.

The day will consist of various presentations and workshops to encourage an open exchange of experience and practice followed by a round table discussion on "The strategic stakes of e-learning" including experts from European and local universities.

Final Call for Papers : 7th International Conference on Web-Based Education, March 17-19, Innsbruck, Austria

The 7th International Conference on Web-Based Education (WBE 2008) is aimed to provide scholars, faculty, researchers, and administrators in all web-based educational areas with an excellent opportunity to convene with colleagues from approximately 50 countries to discuss innovative ideas, results, and outcomes of research.

The submission date for papers is October 17, 2007. Submission guidelines can be found in the call for papers.

SVC Days 2007 - Promoting Excellence in eLearning : Slides and movies of presentations now available

Within the Swiss Virtual Campus, a large amount of attractive eLearning content and tools has been developed. A big challenge for the next years will be to use, maintain and disseminate these results. This has to be achieved without additional federal funding, with full teaching assignments and with existing service units in institutions of higher education. The SVC Days 2007 provide an overview of the main challenges in tackling successfully the transfer phase of eLearning.

On the one hand, it will be shown how the SVC strongly promotes the successful transfer of eLearning results and expertise through a portfolio of different initiatives. On the other hand, good practice examples will demonstrate how some Swiss institutions of higher education are already managing transfer issues and how other European programs meet the challenges of the successful integration of eLearning.

This last open forum of the SVC program aims at mutually shaping the future of eLearning in Switzerland. These inputs will provide a basis for a panel discussion with representatives from the Swiss institutions of higher education and the Swiss rectors conferences about the role and importance of eLearning in future teaching strategies and scenarios.

Presentation-Workshops of the online manual "Evalguide"

Within the mandate of Swiss Virtual Campus (SVC) we have created an online handbook to assist in the evaluation of e-learning projects and programms (www.evalguide.ethz.ch). The purpose of the handbook is to support in evaluation design and to help with relevant questions. The workshops will demonstrate how to make best use of the online handbook.
The invitation is addressed to leaders or members of the CCSPs and SVC projects who are or will be conducting an evaluation.

Mediendidaktischer Hochschulpreis – Aufruf zum MEDIDA-PRIX 2007 – Preisgeld 100.000 €

Die Gesellschaft für Medien in der Wissenschaft e.V. (GMW) schreibt den mediendidaktischen Hochschulpreis MEDIDA-PRIX aus, um didaktisch motivierte Aktivitäten zu unterstützen, die einen besonderen Beitrag zur Qualitätssicherung und zur nachhaltigen Verankerung digitaler Medien in der Hochschullehre und Hochschulentwicklung leisten. Über die Verankerung medienbasierter Angebote in der Lehre hinaus ist es das Ziel des MEDIDA-PRIX, organisationale Veränderungen zu fördern, die in (alle) Lehr-, Lern- und Verwaltungsprozesse der Hochschulen hineinwirken.

Der MEDIDA-PRIX ermöglicht Einreichungen in zwei Kategorien:

Digitale Medien in der Hochschullehre: Hier werden Einreichungen ausgezeichnet, die mit Hilfe Digitaler Medien den individuellen und kooperativen Wissenserwerb/-transfer verbessern sowie die Vermittlung/Erarbeitung bestimmter Inhalte (z.B. durch Visualisierungen, Interaktivität, Exploration) oder kooperatives Arbeiten in Lerngruppen unterstützen.

Hochschulentwicklung mit Digitalen Medien: Hier werden Einreichungen ausgezeichnet, die die Entwicklung und Nutzung Digitaler Medien in der Hochschullehre durch innovative Prozess- und Orga­nisationsstrukturen in und zwischen Hochschulen (z.B. in Fach-Communities) fördern.

Das Preisgeld beträgt EURO 100.000.– Teilnahmeberechtigt sind alle Studierenden, Mitarbeiter/innen, Hochschullehrer/innen von Universitäten, Hoch- und Fachhochschulen der beteiligten Länder Schweiz, Österreich und Deutschland. SVC Dissemination - Exploiting eLearning products and services after 2007

In two workshops, the SVC wants to support project teams and members of eLearning service and competence centres (CCSP) in the sustainable use and reuse of eLearning products and services.

The aim is that, after the end of SVC in 2007, eLearning products financed by the SVC will continue to be successfully used within higher education and, if possible, be made available to further interested users such as foundations, enterprises or other organisations.

In a public event, projects have the opportunity to present their products and services to target groups outside of their institution.

Education Forum at BEA Expo, Berne

On March 5^th, e-learning experts from a government agency, higher education, schools, continuing education and enterprises will discuss the challenges and opportunities of the e-learning landscape in Switzerland after the accomplishment of national programs such as SVC or PPP-SiN. E-learning solutions from all four sectors will be presented.

CSPC-ZFH-Fachtagung vom 22.03.07

Am 22. März 2007 initiiert das CSPC der Zürcher Fachhochschule eine Fachtagung zum Thema „E-Teaching: Neue Kontexte der Gestaltung zwischen Eigenverantwortung und Weiterbildungsmassnahmen“ in Zürich. Das Ziel der Tagung ist die grosse Herausforderung zu meistern, sowohl in den Bachelor- als auch in den Masterstudiengängen eine flächendeckende Akzeptanz von E-Learning zu erreichen.

Das Competence, Service and Production Center CSPC E-Learning der ZFH (kurz CSPC), das als Fachstelle für alle Teilschulen der Zürcher Fachhochschule (ZFH) zugänglich ist, ist neu seit November 2006 online.
