Medical training today is based on three main aspects: knowledge, skills and attitude. Up to now, the main emphasis has been on knowledge. However, the accreditation of the five medical faculties in Switzerland has highlighted the urgent need to improve clinical skills.

This is where the multilingual interactive e-course "Virtual Skills Lab" (VSL) comes in. Its 13 modules prepare students for their first contact with patients. Thanks to VSL, the burden on the patient is considerably reduced and the doctor-tutors providing "bedside teaching" can devote more time to matters requiring a higher level of medical skill.
